SCM made its debut at the Kitchen & Bath Show 2026, held at ICC Sydney from 11 to 13 June, with a dedicated stand focused on the surface technologies shaping the future of kitchen, bathroom and furniture design.
SCM presented a curated selection of panel samples processed using the most advanced edgebanding, sanding and surface treatment technologies, designed to give visitors a hands-on experience of what can be achieved with today's production solutions. From softforming and postforming with PUR, EVA and AirFusion (Invisible Edge) technology, to 3D laser-engraved surfaces on solid wood, veneer and MDF, to Superfici's Supermatt UV-based finishing system delivering ultra-low reflectance surfaces without nitrogen, the stand offered a direct encounter with the results of SCM's most advanced technologies.
The response from visitors was strong. Many who engaged at the stand went on to visit the SCM Technology Centre in Eastern Creek, where live demonstrations of the full machine range provided a deeper look at the capabilities behind the finishes and edges on display.
Panel Discussion: Design, Technology and the Future of Australian Manufacturing
A highlight of SCM's participation was a panel discussion held on Thursday 11 June in the Show Theatre, moderated by Melanie Gardener, Editor of Connect Magazine.
The panel brought together Simon Nanni, Key Account Manager at SCM Australia, Retief and Pieter Joubert, Directors of Provence Brothers, and Dean Brakell, CEO of the Australian Cabinet & Furniture Association (ACFA), for an open conversation on how Australian manufacturers can stay competitive when design trends move fast, skilled labour is harder to find, and customers expect more customisation than ever.
The discussion covered how current design trends translate into real manufacturing decisions, how to create added value beyond standard panel processing, and how to reduce labour dependency while maintaining quality. What emerged was a strong alignment of vision across the panel: whether representing an industry association, a manufacturing business or a technology partner, the direction is clear. Invest in quality. Invest in technology. Invest in your people.
The conversation was dynamic and engaging, drawing real questions from the audience and generating exchanges that continued well beyond the session. Melanie Gardener's moderation kept the discussion fluid and focused throughout.
SCM thanks all visitors, clients and industry partners who joined us at the Kitchen & Bath Show 2026 and looks forward to continuing these conversations at the SCM Technology Centre in Sydney.
