Melbourne CNC Day 2026: Identify a Need, Give a Solution

SCM Australia hosted Melbourne CNC Day on 26 March 2026 at its Melbourne Technology Center, bringing together manufacturers for a full day of live CNC demonstrations and practical, hands-on conversations.

Visitors explored nesting and 5-axis machining in action, with live demonstrations across the morbidelli x50, x200cell and m100.

"Our open houses aren't about showcasing how great SCM is," said Matt Gabbett, National Sales Manager at SCM Australia. "They're about giving a solution to a manufacturing need. We had so many people through today with a need but not sure how to address it. In every case, we addressed it. Identify a need, give a solution. That's what we do."

Two industry partners joined SCM on the showroom floor to demonstrate how complementary technologies elevate CNC performance.

Salestech AKE tackled one of the most common hesitations among manufacturers: machining compact laminate. Many businesses have the equipment but aren't confident they can achieve the right finish. Through live demonstrations, Salestech AKE showed how the correct PCD tooling, paired with a rigid, high-vacuum SCM CNC, delivers a flawless result straight off the machine. No pitch marks, no post-processing, no need for third-party outsourcing.

Mozaik ran live nesting demonstrations, showing visitors how their software integrates seamlessly with SCM CNC machines. Purpose-built for the Australian market, Mozaik offers parametric design with local libraries, a built-in optimizer and a subscription model that keeps entry costs low. The workflow is simple: drag your design in, nest it, send it to cut.

Melbourne CNC Day reinforced SCM Australia's commitment to being more than a machinery supplier, offering practical guidance tailored to each manufacturer's specific production goals.

The Melbourne Technology Center is open every day for live demonstrations.
